Description
Large rostrums, sometimes surpassing 300 mm in lengths and 20-30 mm
in diameter. On the external area of the rostrum, muscle insertions
can be observed. The phragmocone is short, with clear striae.

Occurrence
Munteana, Iron Gates Natural Park, in iron oxide rich sandstone, known
as the Munteana facies of the Lower Jurassic deposits in the South Carpathians,
Sirinia Basin. Munteana includes large accumulations of M. paxillosus. |
